about us

Gotcare is the philanthropic initiative founded by Entrepreneur, Sean Gotkin; created with one simple goal in mind, to promote the wellness of others less fortunate by uplifting the community.

This is achieved through creation of a Care network of like-minded individuals all donating their time and industry connections to various projects including animal welfare initiatives, environmental preservation, youth upliftment programs, corporate social responsibility drives and more.

With a strong emphasis on transparency, Gotcare aims to bridge the gap between corporate business who have funding and those who are in desperate need of funding, not merely by offering handouts but also helping these organisations get the most out of their donations and build something more sustainable.

impact (to date)

It is important to note that beyond our campaigns we do, we aim to provide consulting and support to partner causes and initiatives in desperate need and guidance. In keeping with transparency, we do not include this influence in our direct impact. Our direct impact is measured based on various campaigns we have created and collaborated.

ALL campaigns Gotcare does is with 100% of donations going towards the stated initiative. Our board and members contribute their time to achieve this, and aim to utilise their resources to ensure any campaign running costs are never paid for by funding or donations.

Impacted over 17 500 children since inception of Gotcare.

Impacted over 7 600 homeless since inception of Gotcare.

Impacted over 9 000 animals since inception of Gotcare.

Planted over 21 trees since inception of Gotcare.

notable projects

While we handle donations on a regular basis, and convert them into product through over evergrowing wholesale sources, to be given to our various partner causes and those in need, we have also done various campaigns in order to create further involvement and awareness. The following are notable projects to date:

Over the 2021 festive season, we assessed how we could make the most immediate impact in the community. Our GOTPETS? campaign has resonated with our members, and decided to run it to support two animal-based partners. We were about to provide 2400 Montego (and Monty & Me) meals to TEARS Animal Rescue and the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa while they find loving homes for the animals they support.

Over the 2020 festive season, after assessing how we could best assist one of our partner causes, we identified the need to support one of our animal-based partners. Therefore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and therefore we ran the GOTPETS? campaign to raise funds to secure much needed puppy and dog food for TEARS Animal Rescue. Provided 1500 Montego Pet Nutrition meals to help sustain the puppies and dogs at TEARS Animal Rescue while they find loving homes.

During unprecidented times in 2020 (when the COVID-19 pandemic started) we aimed to ensure various shelters and hospitals were supported by various deliveries of food and essential supplies. We looked to assist those enquiring about where to volunteer to come together as a community.

Over the 2019 festive season, we identified the need to support one of our animal-based partners, therefore we ran the GOTPETS? campaign to raise funds to secure much needed puppy and dog food for TEARS Animal Rescue. Provided 1250 Montego Pet Nutrition meals to help sustain the puppies and dogs at TEARS Animal Rescue while they find loving homes.

In 2019 we launched the GOTWATER? campaign and secured over 3400 liters of water, which were distrubted to partner causes such as The Friends of the Children's Hospital Association (which distrubte to children at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital), The Haven Night Shelter, TEARS Animal Rescue and Cape of Goodhope SPCA.

Over the 2018 festive season, we ran the GOTPETS? campaign to raise funds to secure much needed kitten food for TEARS Animal Rescue. We exceeded our target and are fortunate to say we donated 396 Montego Pet Nutrition meals!

In 2018 we ran the GOTBLANKETS? campaign around the winter period, to raise and secure hundreds of blankets (courtesy of PEP) for The Haven Night Shelter.

Over 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016, we have raised donations for Easter Eggs through the GOTCANDY? campaign, with partners such as Mazars and All Office. In doing so, we have been fortunate to impact over 12000 children at various children's hospitals, organisations and children's homes such as The Friends of the Children's Hospital Association (which distrubte to children at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital), Nazareth House, Durbanville Children's Home, Tygerberg Children's Hospital, Happy Days, The Care Bear Project, Mitchells Plain Youth Church Group, Gugulethu Youth Church Group, Homestead Woodstock, Homestead Khayelitsha, Goldie Locks and The Bear, Souper Troopers, Margarete House, Christine Revell Children's Home, Sisters Incorporate, Amy Foundation and Afrika Tikkun.

In 2017, with the Cape Storms approaching and many of those in desperate need being impacted, through PEP stores, we organised blankets to be donated to the Haven Night Shelter to provide immediate relief.

Over the 2016 festive season, we ran the GOTPETS? campaign to raise funds to secure leashes courtesy of ROGZ and food courtesy of Boss Dog Food via Paradigm Sales & Marketing, in order to donate these items to We Are Animals and Shaygam's Shelter. As well as looking after our furry friends over the 2016 festive season, we spent time making sandwiches at the Homestead.

With the harsh 2016 winter occuring, we ran the GOTCLOTHES? campaign where we appealed to all those with any old/ unused clothes and blankets for our partner causes such as Nazareth House, Durbanville Children's Home and The Friends of the Children's Hospital Association in need as well as other causes in need such as Tygerberg Children's Hospital.

Over the 2015 festive season, we successfully distributed over 900 toys to Nazareth House, The Friends of the Children's Hospital Association and Durbanville Children's Home. Additionally, our members spent a special day with some of the children at The Friends of the Children's Hospital Association, giving out toys, sweets, chocolates and cake! We also provided a Magician to entertain the children, and ended off the day handing out sweets and cake in the Burn Unit and Trauma Unit to children who were not able to join us for the party.

1 May 2015, where it all "officially" began, we raised over 500kgs of dog food and donated it all to TEARS and DARG.
